Monday Falls

The natural force of water, with no hurry and no added spectacle.

Not coming to look at a waterfall. Feeling the force of the Monday.

The Monday Falls are a pause of nature within the tour of Alto Paraná: water, forest, sound, humidity, perspective and time. Luxury lies not in adding activities, but in choosing the moment, reducing friction and staying in front of the landscape long enough to remember it.

We do not present them as the other waterfall near Iguazú nor as a twenty-minute stop. The Monday has an identity of its own: it is Paraguay in its natural state, with the river falling between Atlantic forest and rock, in a setting far more intimate than the region's great circuits.

What you feel

Four things that do not show in the photo

We design the visit around what is perceived, not around what is ticked off a list.

First

The sound

Before the view

The roar of the river is heard before it is seen. That is why the guide speaks only as much as needed: the water is also part of the explanation.

Then

The spray

Humidity and freshness

A fine mist rises from the fall. In a warm, humid setting, a cool towel and a light rain layer are welcome.

Always

The perspective

Well-chosen viewpoints

Each viewpoint shows another face of the river. We choose the best spots and the hour when the light favours them.

For everything

Time

Without rushing

Between fifteen and thirty minutes with no schedule: photographing, contemplating, having a drink or simply being. Fewer places, more depth.

The visit, step by step

How the experience is lived

Simple and very well executed. Every moment has its place and none competes with the landscape.

  1. 01

    The arrival

Access prepared, with no unnecessary waiting. A brief introduction to the Monday River and the Atlantic forest of Alto Paraná, without lectures.

  2. 02

    The first encounter

We arrive at the viewpoint and leave a few minutes of silence before we begin to explain. First, it is felt: the sound, the spray, the movement of the water and the scale.

  3. 03

    The route

Selected trail and viewpoints, with a naturalist or guide who can speak about landscape, forest, birds, geology and the river's regime.

  4. 04

    Free time

Fifteen to thirty minutes with no schedule: photography, contemplation, a drink or simply being.

  5. 05

    The close

Coffee, a cool drink or an aperitif at a pleasant spot in the park, or at a stop chosen afterwards. That way the visit does not end abruptly and there is room to talk about what you have seen.

Nature and photography

More than a great waterfall

The Monday has the potential to be more than a fall. The surrounding forest, the birds and the best observation points can transform the visit. For certain travellers, a local naturalist or photographer changes the experience completely.

Formats

Three ways of being at the Monday

Each format is a starting point. Pace, table, language and companions are adjusted to you.

RecommendedSAPC Monday

Nature

2 to 2.5 hours

Access, viewpoints, a short trail, natural interpretation, time for contemplation and a closing drink. The version designed for the general circuit.

To go more slowlySAPC Monday

Slow Nature

3 to 4 hours

For those who love nature and photography: more trail, a naturalist guide, birds and forest, and a slower pace. It can include a picnic or light meal if we find a place worthy of it.

SAPC Monday

Adventure

Depending on the activity

Optional and only for those who ask: zip line, tree climbing, rafting or other activities offered by the park operators. An extra layer, not the axis of the visit.

Adventure: yes, but not by obligation

The strength of the Monday lies in nature; adrenaline is optional for families, young people or travellers who seek it. Every activity is subject to age, physical condition, weather, insurance and a safety review, and we only offer it once we have checked the operator, maintenance and protocols.

Times, prices and activities may change and are reconfirmed before each visit. Water flow and light conditions depend on the river and the weather, which is why we do not promise them.

The detail

The details that add up

Small, almost invisible comforts that change how the visit is remembered.

Chosen time of day

Less heat, better light and fewer visitors, whenever the park's operations allow.

Naturalist guide

Explains the river, the forest and the wildlife without competing with the landscape.

Water and a cool towel

A small invisible comfort in a warm, humid setting.

Light rain gear

To carry on comfortably in the spray, a brief shower or extra humidity.

Time without a guide

A deliberate pause to observe and photograph at your own pace.

A final photograph

A good picture of yourself in front of the Monday, without turning the place into a backdrop.

Our standard

What you will never find on this visit

Our standard is also defined by what we give up.

  • Constant comparisons with Iguazú or a “mini Iguazú”.
  • A twenty-minute stop for the photo and an immediate departure.
  • Zip line, rafting or adventure included by default for everyone.
  • Visits at clearly unfavourable hours or in unfavourable conditions just because the itinerary is full.
  • Guides who turn the walk into a continuous explanation and do not let you hear the surroundings.
  • Shopping in Ciudad del Este mixed into the visit, unless you ask for it.

Itaipú and the Monday

Two ways of looking at the force of water

They are very close, but they tell opposite and complementary stories. If you combine them on the same day, we leave enough space between them: closeness is never an excuse to rush.

Monday FallsNature releases it

We prefer Itaipú to take up the technical and intellectual part of the day and the Monday to be the moment of nature and decompression. If you continue on to Iguazú, the Monday keeps its Paraguayan personality and is not a mere appetiser for the falls.
